City Hall was busy ahead of Father's Day. Let's break it down.

| View in browser Sunday June 18, 2023 Minutes before Wednesday turned into Thursday, these things happened at City Hall: Airbnbs were banned from single-family neighborhoods, the City Council accepted $90 million from Dallas Area Rapid Transit to fund various infrastructure improvements, the city got a new 282-acre park, a health clinic in South Dallas received public funding to get started on construction, and a contract was approved to overhaul the zoning code that governs what can be developed in Dallas.   Sheesh.   It was the last Dallas City Council meeting before its summer recess and this week’s inauguration of the new members after the May election. The things I mentioned above are each worthy of their own space, and so you’ll find links to our coverage below.   Give the stories a read. Local government is important, and so is local news. READ MORE The 282 acre park the city accepted this week is Big Cedar Wilderness, a hilly, beautiful stretch of land that could easily be in Arkansas. Here's how I described it: "Interstate 20 lies only a mile or so north, but, elevation aside, Big Cedar feels almost like the Ouachita Mountains in Western Arkansas. We’re surrounded by spindly juniper and lush pecan, oak, and cedar trees, shepherded along a narrow dirt path most often used by mountain bikers.
